Labor Day is just around the corner, and I’m sure most of you are already planning out a weekend of full relaxation. In addition to taking full advantage of those last lazy days laying by the pool, check out some businesses around town, because Labor Day Weekend is the optimal time to catch some great end of the summer sales! Here’s a list of some of the stores in Lufkin and Nacogdoches you should keep an eye out for when September 5th rolls around.
1. Department Stores
Big market stores like Walmart, Target, and K-martalways offer great sales during big shopping weekends. The Labor Day sale is one of the biggest sales for department stores before Halloween and Black Friday, so keep your eye out for all the summer appliances to go on sale fast, so the stores can make room for all the new fall and winter shipments.
These department stores also offer coupons online, or through an in store catalogue, so get to cutting and you can save some extra bucks on top of saving extra bucks!
In the past, each of these stores have offered amazing shipping prices if you order products online, and last year Kmart stores docked the price of shipping to as low as $1.99 for orders of $49 or more. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming price changes at local Walmart, Target, and Kmart store locations!
2. Best Buy
Best Buy’s end of the summer sale always has deals on everything from DVDs to cameras to Blue-ray players. If you are looking to enhance your home entertainment center, then keep a lookout for Best Buy’s Labor Day sale prices.
Last year, shoppers could snap a Samsung 46 inch HDTV and Blue-ray player for just less than $1,000. A 15% discount was also offered on all television stands. DVD and video game prices also drop during these kind of sales. However, if you are interested in one of the new 3D televisions, it may be more advantageous to wait until the holidays, where prices on those items are allegedly going to fall dramatically.
3. Car Dealerships
If you are in the market for a new vehicle, swing by one of your local dealerships during the Labor Day Weekend sales event. Most dealerships will offer huge savings on all 2010 car models, so watch out for dropped car prices to be announced!
This year, Ford Motor Co. is campaigning a ‘Labor Day Sales Event‘, offering virtually all customers zero percent financing for up to 72 months! This deal begins August 24-September 5, and includes all vehicles under Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury at select locations.
4. JC Penney
JC Penney usually has unbelievable price drops during Labor Day weekend. During last year’s sale, JC Penney offered free shipping on online orders of $49 or more, and even marked furniture, luggage, and mattresses down by 50%.
Everything from jewelry to clothes to appliances are marked down during the Labor Day at JC Penney, and as it draws near, keep swinging by the store to check on price drops.
5. Furniture Stores
Most of our local furniture stores cut some pretty sweet deals come Labor Day Weekend.
Ashley Furniture has offered in the past 10%-15% off all furniture in the store with no interest financing for up to 60 months!
Ivan Smith Furniture also cuts prices and offers great deals in the spirit of Labor Day, offering percentage off select items storewide.
